Sk8Cols : yes - too wide Sk8Cols : everything from old old people with no jumps really Sk8Cols : to people with double axels and double lutzes Rkhoyle : So qualifying would help to "weed out" some of this? Sk8Cols : the dance and pair teams were great Sk8Cols : it would weed me out! Sk8Cols : and Wilmington did a great job Sk8Cols : the interp groups were too broad Sk8Cols : needed some test level breaks MorryS : It is impossible to judge Striesand music against comedy Sk8Cols : ome confustion too about props/costumes as props MorryS : There were no props Rkhoyle : Striesand vs comedy - was that interpretive? MorryS : yes both were Sk8Cols : no props allowed, but several costumes used as props MorryS : How do you arrive at that? Sk8Cols : taking things off Sk8Cols : the old Duchesnay/OSP feather boa type thing MorryS : That is not a prop unless it deposited on the ice Sk8Cols : well, it was Sk8Cols : anyway, the skater had never thought about it Sk8Cols : also calling it interp instead of artistic was confusing MorryS : There should have been a deduction if left on the ice Sk8Cols : any word on site for next year? Sk8Cols : interp is the ISIA event where you all skate to the same music Sk8Cols : many nonqual usfsa comps have it too Sk8Cols : everyone hears the music for the first time at the event MorryS : Ok, that is the same system we in LA have used for 30 years Sk8Cols : What does anyone think about adults qualifying via regionals? MorryS : We divide artistic into light entertainment, dramatic, and comedy Dance Edge : How was the quality as a whole, for the 22 dance teams in Seniors? Sk8Cols : yes, that makes sense Sk8Cols : top dance teams in seniors were ok Sk8Cols : some less than great compulsories MorryS : Don't think qualifying will work because there are too many divisions Sk8Cols : Phyllis Howard suggested having jr and sr qualify and then everyone else be open events MorryS : The winner of the Mens' event was very good Sk8Cols : too late for anything for next year in terms of the rulebook Sk8Cols : I thought the top three pair teams were great MorryS : The Adult National will remain under the Program Developement Comm Sk8Cols : who is our best contact? MorryS : Phyllis Howard or Reha Swartz SBrackin : At what level of expertise is a person disqualified at Adult nationals? MorryS : No one is disqualified Sk8Cols : none - they had masters events for those who were too high for other events SBrackin : Ineligible, I should have said MorryS : The events are open only to elegible skaters Sk8Cols : adult test structure and comp structure need to be put in sync Sk8Cols : adult bronze time limit was 1.30 when the test allows for a 2 minute program Sk8Cols : adult silver test has no axel but the adult silver event was allowed to do an axel MorryS : The time was to accomodate ISIA skaters and their programs Sk8Cols : good first attempt though - don't mean to sound so critical Sk8Cols : it didn't - ISIA 4's have 2 minute programs and most of the bronzes (not me) were at least a 4 Dance Edge : I do know there was quite a range in test level in Senior Dance. MorryS : Yes I answered it. Sk8Cols : plus all of the adult juniors (per the rulebook) have 2 minute programs Sk8Cols : how were the figures? MorryS : We tried to accomodate the largest number of skaters possible. SBrackin : Was the USFSA surprised at the turnout? Was it larger than they expected? MorryS : The event I judged had very good figures Sk8Cols : I heard they had originally planned for about 100 skaters MorryS : 3 times as large a origionlly planned Sk8Cols : super job and great communication between entry deadline and event SBrackin : Were hotel accomodations a problem? Where did people stay?
